Internship in Protolab

He found himself in Ostrava by coincidence, but he came twice. The first time he was brought here in 2022 by the Erasmus programme, the second time he went to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of VSB-TUO on purpose. Twenty-one-year-old Gabriel Prat from France was one of the trainees in Protolab. What is his experience?

Great publication success for the 3D Printing Centre team

The scientific team from the Department of Machining, Assembly and Engineering Metrology, which works with additive technologies at the Protolab 3D Printing Centre, can celebrate a huge publication success. Their paper, published two years ago in Polymers magazine, won the prestigious Best Paper Award 2023.

Protolab can now produce 3D metal prints with perfect surfaces thanks to a new polishing machine

Using additive technologies, they can custom-make a protective half-mask, missing component parts, dentures or a scooter frame. This year, however, the experts at the Protolab 3D Printing Centre at the Department of Machining, Assembly and Engineering Metrology at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at VSB-TUO decided to overcome another challenge - to significantly improve the surface properties of metal prints.
